You will see this on your proposal.
“Paul Bopp is an independent estimator/consultant, representing multiple painting contractors. He has been in the painting industry for the past 40 years and has learned that most painters specialize in certain areas of expertise. Paul’s job is to give you a fair and complete estimate of what your project will cost and to let you know which company he recommends for your specific job. This service is at no cost to you.
Once you decide to accept this proposal, Paul will send you an updated contract with the name and contact information of the chosen painter he recommends for your project. Once this is done, you will be dealing personally with the owner of the recommended company, and they will be responsible and liable for all work completed.
Paul would love your feedback at the end of the job so that he can continue to recommend the best of the best painters.”
So, why use an independent Estimator/Consultant?
Like it says above, Paul has been in the paint industry for the past 40 years. He has been a painter, a job site foreman, a sub-contractor, helped run other people’s paint business and even had his own painting company for many years. He has also worked in several paint stores and managed the paint and home décor departments for both HQ (Home Quarters) and Lowe’s stores.
Before becoming an independent estimator, Paul was an estimator for a very large painting company in the Tide Water Virginia area but didn’t like what he always saw.
Unfortunately, these bigger franchise companies have to make their profit margin the main priority in order to pay the fees, marketing costs and requirements to the main company.
He watched as some of the best painters he knew struggled to succeed. Not because they weren’t good painters, but because they struggled with the business part of it; estimating, scheduling, paperwork, and having the time to do all of this and still be the best painter they could, so, they worked as sub-contractors for these bigger companies.
As a sub-contractor they could no longer make the customer or the quality of their work their main priority. It was about getting the job done quickly and on to the next one.
Because Paul understands the challenges that these small companies face, he has decided that he can make a greater impact by helping these painters build their own businesses and create better lives for them and their families. Paul has gotten together with some of the best painters he has worked with over the years and offered to help them succeed by helping them with their estimating, scheduling, and advertising. And again, at no cost to you.
So, thank you in advance, for allowing me to offer you an estimate, and when you look over your proposal and decide that it lines up with the job details you provided, you will be supporting a locally owned and operated business in your area that strives to put the customer and the quality of their work first.
